SCRAP PMAN?
On facebook about six months ago, some guys created and invited me to the facebook page 'SCRAP PMAN?' https://www.facebook.com/pages/SCRAP-PMAN/142945642549619?ref=hl . Immediately i became very curious and wanted to know the people behind this, so i asked to be made an admin, and my request was granted. I asked a few questions and they gave me a piece of there minds. Truly speaking you don't want to know what's in there minds(gosh !! it's el terrible).Bottom line is that they think the 'Peoples Musicians Association of Nigeria should be scrapped. They think it is useless to up and coming acts. They changed its abbreviation to "Please Meet Abgayas of Nigeria". How! Why?
PMAN was formed in 1982 to address the many issues confronting
musicians in the Nigerian Music Industry. It started with king Sunny Ade as
president, and late Sonny Okosun as vice president and late Christy Essien
Igbokwe as treasurer. Those were the good old Days you might say. Soon they
planted a secretariat at number 3 Ola Ayeni Street in Ikeja, Lagos. They
stormed plenty presidential palaces, getting support from people like the then
president Shehu Shagari and Alao Arishekola and many more. They succeeded in
registering the association as a trade union in 1994.
IN COMES TONY
OKOROJI AND CO.
After so many ups and downs, on July 27th, 1987
Tony Okoroji was made President backed up by great and brilliant Onyeka Owenu
as first vice president and the ever upright producer and drummer Laolu Akins
as second vice president.
As far as I Lepa Titilayo and most Nigerians are concerned,
Tony Okoroji and his team of Onyeka and Laolu remains the most intelligent and
smartest leadership PMAN has ever had. If you know otherwise then lets argue it
right here. They did credible works that pivoted PMAN to higher heights. They
organized the first ever music awards in Nigeria, the “NMA” to which so many
others followed suit. They kick started the copyright battle that the Nigerian
music industry is now enjoying as radio and TV stations have started paying
royalties for the usage of music. They did many wonderful things as it should
be done.
AFTERWARDS
Perhaps other musicians saw the leadership of the
association as an opportunity to make quick money, or some a chance to boost
their ego. All of a sudden, all characters attempted to lead PMAN.
When Tony and his team left, Mustapha Amigo and so many
others tried but performed very little.
RETURNS CHRISTY
Years after, the Late
Christy Essien Igbokwe returned as PMAN president. In her tenure as leader, she
convinced the “MUSIC INDUSTRY” to support late head of state General Abacha to
continue as president of the country when she lead them to the “2million man
march” at the Eagle square in Abuja(hmm. what a leader).
RETURNS KSA
When Christy left, King Sunny Ade came back as president (again?).
He moved the PMAN headquarters to Agege motor road, on the express. He could not
do much after that so he passed the baton to Femi Lasode and Zakki adzay who
could not do much either. As at this period, the younger artistes like the
Plantation Boys, Remedies, Eldee Da Don & the Tribes Men, Def O clan Lord
of Ajasa, had formed their own association “The Afro Hip Hop Society Of
Nigeria” under the leadership of Seyi Allen, a top artiste manager and showbiz
impresario, some very strong behind the scene industry pillar character. The society was aimed at giving the African
brand of Hip Hop a voice. This group brought the Nigerian Music Industry back
to its feet today. They created and named a brand new sound Called Afro Hip
Hop, which is currently Nigeria’s main music. The Afro hip hop Society had the support of
lots of heads, like JAJ and ryhtym fm Djs, Kenny Ogungbe, Prime Tyme and
Raypower Djs, Kwame and Star Fm Djs, DJ Jimmy Jatt and lots of OAP’S.
HOW CHARLY BOY
FUCKED IT ALL UP
After so much battle by others to
lead, Charly Boy was forced in as PMAN President around 2002, with Dele Abiodun
as his first vice president and Orits Wiliki as second vice. This grandfather
who still calls himself ‘boy’ and his team brought back glamour to PMAN,
created an insurance scheme and tackled Alaba pirates. But according to members, Charly boy’s greed
4 money brought the current ruin to the association. At the expiration of his 2
year tenure, he was said to have collected money from Bolaji Rosiji and later
from Tee mac and promised them presidency. Charly boy also super imposed
himself as the life Ambassador to PMAN whatever that means (That was the period
I was attempting to join PMAN as a young upcoming female singer). Those moves where heavily resisted by Dele Abiodun and Orits Wiliki both who also wanted to become president of PMAN at one time or the other. Before we know it factions sprung up from various angles. Court cases here and there. Every Tom Dick and Harry was a factional president. Some of them retired disgruntled old musicians, others, young musicians who needed it to boost their ego. Some others were promoters, label owners and even politicians who were trying to hijack PMAN for personal needs.
MY OPINION ( AND THIS
COUNTS A LOT).
Years ago when I wanted to go professional
in my singing career (clears throat…i once tried to go the way of Beyonce). I
Lepa Titilayo decided that it was right to join PMAN. So, I carried my novice
self and went to PMAN headquarters in Ikeja. What I found there was a free for
all igbo joint/car park. When I got there, there was a meeting going on up
stairs, and I was asked to join in. All sorts of mechanics, carpenters, thugs,
conductors, palm wine tappers, and dadacious rod carrying prophetic looking
fellows who all claim to be musicians were busy shouting at the top of their
voices at the then president Charly Boy. I never saw any real set of musicians.
And I really don’t blame this people. If the real misicians have decided to lay
back and leave their careers in the hands of such people then so be it. SHAME
ON YOU YOUNG ARTISTES!! SHAAAAAAMMMMEEEE ONNNNNNN YOUUUUUUUUU!
So my opinion is that PMAN should
be giving a last chance to survive. REVAMP PMAN NOW!!
The story continues later……..

BURNA BOY'S GOES NAKED ON STAGE- SO DOES A FEMALE FAN
If you ask I Omo Lepacious Titi, i will tell you da truth, my opinion is that "Burna boy" is suffering from too much Igbo ( Indian hemp), he could have even taking too much than baba took when Fela was alive.Reason why, even Abami Eda never ever performed naked on stage. But my dear Burna here is burning too much. How ever it was a nice performance. I think this guy will take over from D'banj. You don't have to believe me, but i've said anyway.
And this photo below is that of a music loving girl who has gone completely gaga for shows. Pls don't judge her. Na music cos am.

WHIZKID PERFORMS TO EMPTY CHAIRS..
I cannot say exactly how or why it happened, cos i was not there myself, they told me that yesterday night at an event tagged "WIZKID LIVE-ABUJA INVASION , that the hall was empty when Wizzy climbed stage. only a hand full of people attended the show, too bad. The event was meant to take by 5pm, but as at that hour, the hall was still empty. So, they whole EME crew waited and waited and waited, but the crowed never showed up. Hmmmmm!!!. Wizzy had no choice but to perform to empty chairs. I'd say he has the very good spirit of show must go on.
MY OPINION; Wiz darling, you and your colleagues are too far from your Naija fans. period. i hope you learn from this Bank E.

MAHEEDA. SELLING SEX OR SELLING MUSIC?
Is Maheeda selling sex like many other Naija female artistes or she is selling music? Who is she fooling?
As far as we are concerned, she has ran out of ideas. Her claims to wanting Don Jazzy and Clarrence peters in bed signifies that she is broke and looking for free music production and free music video.

'I WAS FORCED TO MAKE LOVE TO A DOG AND A HORSE FOR MONEY BY MY HUSBAND' - CAMEROONIAN AXELLE ELVIRE
When the Internet
became part of the African society, most people were happy to use it at first
for productive purposes like communication. It served many people for chatting,
sending mails and even business. As the time passed by many girls discovered
that they could use the internet to find a chat friend or a life partner. Some
girls have greatly benefited just by using the internet to find their dream
marriages or relationships. Others have fallen into traps in the West and wish
they would never have known what the internet was. This is the case of one
Cameroonian, Elvire Axelle Tchamakoua.
Axelle is a
prostitute who is pimped to various men by her main man Jean Claude (French
Businessman). She did not mind serving her customers from the front or from
behind (anal). The use of condoms during her encounters was not allowed as it
brings more money to the table for her and her main man. She has been doing
this job for quite a while and was used to this. The shocking part of it is
that, Axelle is a 25 year old girl with a Formal Training Certificate in
Esthetics and Beauty. Why a young lady in her age would wish for fast cash is
the question many people are asking.
It is reported that
Axelle met her pimping Boss, Jean Claude on the Internet in October 2011.They
had a normal chat like every other person would have when chatting with a
stranger. Jean Claude told her he was a Businessman based in Marseille and was
into import and export. Axelle who thought she had found the love of her life
continued her communication with Jean Claude Fayard and on March 2012 he came
to visit her in Cameroon. There was a huge celebration at Axelle´s Aunt´s
Residence at Santa Barbara in Yaounde. Two days in Cameroon, Jean Claude
proposed to Axelle and got married to her in both traditional and Legal Ceremonies.
Both marriages took place on the 16th and 18th of March 2012 respectively.
Jean Claude made all
travelling arrangements and the both of them flew to France on the 21 of March
that same year. He even gave Axelle´s family the sum of 600.000FCFA for their
up keep. Not knowing that they were selling their daughter into sex slavery, the
family happily bid the couple goodbye as they left for France.
The truth of the
matter was that Jean Claude is a pimp who goes to Africa and picks up girls to
come and work as sex slaves for him in France. Since Axelle did not know about
this, she would wish she never used the internet in her life. As the couple
arrived France, they lived in a town called Clermont Ferrand for about 9 months
after which they moved to a new place called Lourdes. It is in this place that
Axelle had the worst experience of her life.
A few days after
their arrival to Lourdes, a man knocks on the door saying he wants to see Jean
Claude. Little did Axelle know that, he would be her first client who had
already paid into her husband´s bank account. When Axelle called her husband´s
attention to the guest, she was shocked when her husband told her to do
whatever the guest tells her to do.
A few days later
after coming home from work, Jean Claude sits Axelle and laid down the rules
and regulations of the job. He told her she has to pay back all the money he
spent on her in Cameroon. He calculated the amount to be more than 3,000 euros
and she will also be working for him for the next two years. Axelle who became
speechless thought she was dreaming. It was even worse when Jean Claude took
her personal belongings and all her documents. She was also prohibited from
making any calls. In order words Jean Claude made sure that she had no means of
communication with the outside world.
Every day she had
male customers who would come for her service taking her from front and behind.
She was mandated to do whatever they wanted. They would not use any protection
during intercourse. One day Jean Claude came home with a customer accompanied
by a dog. The man whose name is Loiseau had deposited some money into Jean
Claude´s account. Axelle who didn't see this coming was pushed into the room
and forced to have sex with the dog which she did. It is said that Jean Claude
made more money when Axelle sleeps with animals, so these deals became the
order of the day.
After her encounter
with the dog, Jean Claude left with Mr Loiseau leaving Axelle alone in the
house. After numerous trials, she broke down the door and ran into the street
where she met a Cameroonian couple living in the town. They helped her to get
to the Embassy where she narrated her ordeal. The Police was immediately
dispatched to Jean Claude´s house where they found evidences linking him to
kidnapping and other serious allegations. Jean Claude was immediately arrested
and is waiting for judgement. Meanwhile Axelle flew back to Cameroon and was
immediately taken to the hospital for further examinations and treatments.
See what the Internet
can do to the youths of a country. Not all that glitters is Gold my dear
brothers and sisters. If some of you could hear the stories of some Africans in
the Diaspora, you will not envy them at all. After everything, home is the best
even when our government and politicians fail us. What do you guys think? I
need your contributions.

10 RICHEST AFRICAN MUSICIANS. NIGERIA MAKES 2nd, 3rd, 7th & 9th
The list of musicians
who rake in millions of dollars are usually reserved for international
megastars like Beyonce or Kanye West, and largely hail from the Western world.
However, there are artists across Africa whose stars are rapidly rising and
they are able to command larger and larger paychecks around the world. Highly
influential and each bringing their own unique sound, these artists represent
the richest African musicians, according to Answers Africa.
1. Youssou N’dour
Not surprisingly,
Youssou N’dour brings it home in the No. 1 spot. This Senegalese singer is
widely Sconsidered the most famous singer alive in Senegal and much of Africa.
His style of music is known as mbalax, a mix of Senegalese traditional music in
the Serer language and various styles from around the world including Cuban
rumba, hip hop, jazz, and soul. With millions around the world in his fan base,
he is now the owner of the biggest media house in Senegal (complete with radio
and TV stations) and was appointed tourism and culture minister in 2012. More
importantly, before K’naan had “Waving Flag” in 2010, N’dour was responsible
for the 1998 FIFA World Cup national anthem, “La Cour des Grands,” along with
Axelle Red.
2. P-Square
P-Square is made up
of identical twins, Peter and Paul Okoye, who began singing and dancing
together back in their small Catholic high school in Jos, Nigeria. After forming
the group in 2005, their music developed a devoted following, particularly in
South Africa, and each album outsold the previous one. They were named Artists
of the Year at the 2010 Kora Awards and now bring in more than $150,000 per
show. Best of all, their shared home is worth more than $3 million and has been
dubbed “Squareville.” Talk about product placement!
3. D’banj
D’banj, aka the Koko
Master, aka Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo, has been killing it in his native Nigeria and
around the world since 2007, and was the first African artist who signed with

D’banj is known for his unique sound of dance music and Afro beats. He is
involved in a variety of investments including a nightclub in Nigeria, brands
such as Koko water, and was given his own reality show, “Koko Mansion.”
4. Koffi Olomidé
Along with fellow
Congolese star Fally Ipupa, Koffi Olomidé formed Quartier Latin as lead singer
and vocalist before launching his solo career. Dubbing his style of music as
tcha tcho, he considers it a blend of soukous music (dance music that
originated from African rumba music). He’s notorious for taking on
controversial subjects in his lyrics, which has led him to be widely praised
and criticized worldwide. Raking in over 100,000 euros per show, Olomidé is
extremely popular across Africa and the world. One of his albums is listed in
Robert Dimery’s book, “1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.”
5. Salif Keita
Born and raised in
Mali, singer and songwriter Salif Keita has been referred to as the “Golden
Voice of Africa,” with his original take on Afro-pop music. Despite his royal
heritage (he’s directly descended from Sundiata Keita, the founder of the Mali
Empire), he chose a path of music, bucking the Malian caste system. But this
means that he was loaded even before his music career took off, explaining his
private island and properties across Europe.
6. Fally Ipupa
Fally Ipupa, a former
member of Quartier Latin International (along with Koffi Olomidé, to be
mentioned later), went solo in 2006 and has been incredibly successful, both in
his home country of the Democratic Republic of the Congo as well as
internationally. With MTV Africa Music and Kora awards under his belt, he’s
racked up clothing endorsement deals in Paris as well as high commissions for
his shows across the world, which are almost always sold-out.
7. 2 Face Idibia
Nigerian
singer-songwriter 2 Face Idibia began his career as a member of the hip hop
group Plantashun Boyz, but went solo in 2004 after the group split. His most
popular song, “African Queen,” took off after being featured in the movie “Phat
Girlz” in 2006, but all of his five albums have been very well-received around
the world. His wealth comes from various real estate investments across
Nigeria, as well as the $80,000 he commands per show.
8. Hugh Masekela
Musical sensation
Hugh Masekela is a South African artist who plays a variety of instruments,
including the trumpet, flugelhorn, and cornet, along with singing and composing
his own work. He has been highly praised for his work, with everything from a
Grammy nomination to the Order of the Ikhamanga by President Jacob Zuma (for
achievements in arts, culture, literature, music, journalism, and sports in
South Africa). He has graced prestigious festivals across the world. He is
perhaps best known for his acapella-style singing and collaboration with Paul
Simon and Ladysmith Black Mambazo on the Graceland album and 1987 Graceland
tour.
9. Banky W
Born Olubankole
Wellington in the U.S., Banky W moved back to Nigeria and grew up in Lagos,
where he began singing at an early age. Finding success early in singing
competitions, most of his wealth has come from endorsement deals with companies
such as Estisalat mobile and Samsung in Nigeria. He also started the Mr.
Capable Foundation, an education charity that provides tuition scholarships for
disadvantaged children.
10. Jose Chameleone
Jose (or Joe)
Chameleone is a Ugandan artist who found his niche blending traditional Ugandan
folk music, a bit of rumba and a heavy reggae influence. He sings in English,
Swahili, and Luganda. His mansion outside of Kampala and four cars (including a
Cadillac Escalade and a Benz) are evidence of his success, particularly with
his hit, “Valu Valu.” He’s been credited with changing the face of music in
Uganda, as well as making local music accessible to the rest of the world.

RAYMOND DOKPESI BATTLES NIGERIAN MUSICIANS AND THE FEDERAL GOVERMENT.
COSON FILES N10 BILLION NAIRA SUIT AGAINST
DOKPESI’S RAY POWER & AIT IN AFRICA’S BIGGEST COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT ACTION
Do you remember how those days, the military used to think that it was bigger than the country? That is how Dopkesi is feeling with Nigerian artistes right now. If the news am hearing is true.
Copyright Society of
Nigeria (COSON), Nigeria’s government approved collective management
organization for musical works and sound recordings has filed a Ten Billion
naira copyright infringement action against Daar Communications Plc, Nigeria’s
biggest privately owned broadcast network which operates stations such as Ray
Power FM, Faaji FM and Africa Independent Television (AIT) scattered all over
Nigeria. The suit No. FHC/L/CS/1392/13 filed on October 7, 2013 on behalf of
COSON at the Federal High Court, Lagos by crack Intellectual Property lawyer,
Mr. Justin Ige, is the biggest known copyright infringement action ever in the
African continent.
COSON is also asking
for general and exemplary damages and a perpetual injunction restraining Ray
Power FM, Faaji FM and Africa Independent Television (AIT) managed by Chief
Raymond Dokpesi, their agents, privies or servants from further or other
unauthorized copying, broadcast of musical works or sound recordings belonging
to the members, affiliates and assignors of COSON and/or infringement of the
copyright in the musical works or sound recordings belonging to the members,
affiliates and assignors of COSON.
MY OPINION...
Dokpesi should give unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar. He should remember the days(several years ago) when Ray power and AIT was going to be shot down by banks cos they were owing. Nigerian musicians did everything they could to help him survive.
Raypower and AIT are living and surving by the intellectual properties of musicians. NO MUSIC NO RAYPOWER FM. WORD!

FOUR NIGERIANS JAILED FOR KIDNAPPING IN MALASHIA
Four Nigerian
students were sentenced by the High Court here to four years’ imprisonment each
after they pleaded guilty to kidnapping and wrongfully confining a private
college student for 29 days three years ago.
Gebrel Mowaski, 31, Nduka Johnson Samuel 31, Igwe Onyebuchi
Promise 24, and Odumegwu Chiedozie 30, had been charged with abducting the
victim (another Nigerian from a wealthy background) for ransom, an offence that carries the death sentence.
But the four pleaded guilty to alternative charges
yesterday.
Mowaski and Samuel admitted to kidnapping the victim, now
30, with the intention of secretly and wrongfully confining him in a house in
Bandar Damai Perdana, Kajang, between May 23 and June 20, 2010.
Promise and Chiedozie admitted having knowledge of the
kidnapping and keeping the student confined.
It was learned that the victim came from a wealth
and influencial family in Nigeria.
The kidnapped student, who was held captive and guarded by
Promise and Chiedozie, feigned death on the 29th day.
The four accused then took him out of the house and threw
him in a drain in Cyberjaya.
Following a police report, the four were detained.
DPP Aidatul Azura Zainal Abidin said the victim refused to
attend the proceedings out of fear of his captors.
Justice Ahmadi Asnawi ordered the jail term to
run from the date of arrest on June 20, 2010.
